The Pico Rivera Community Gardens was established to promote healthy living and provide residents who do not have garden space with the opportunity to grow produce for personal use. The Community Gardens is comprised of 18’ x 22’ plots rented annually and is available for use by residents and non-residents.

The Pico Rivera Golf Club is a 9-hole executive course designed by William F. Bell and built in 1968 on U.S. Army Corps of Engineers land. The course is owned by the City of Pico Rivera. The lighted course plays to a par 29, measures 1504 yards, features a covered driving range, two putting greens, pro shop, Café, and banquet facilities.

The Department of Parks and Recreation hosts annual community events, including a weekly Wednesday Certified Farmers Market, Easter Eggstravaganza, Summer Meal Program (SFSP), Fireworks Spectacular, Summer Street Fest (SSF), Dive-In Movies, Halloween Spooktacular, and Tree Lighting Festival. This division also supports non-departmental organizations with annual events such as the National Day of Prayer, retail store grand openings, and ribbon-cutting ceremonies. The special events division oversees community volunteers and community partners such as sponsors.

The Pico Rivera Department of Parks and Recreation Trips & Tours Division offers one-day, family-friendly, year-round excursions. Excursions are designed to provide opportunities to learn and explore, as well as socialize with others.

All Public Health Protocols will be in effect for ALL excursions. 

All trips depart from the Pico Rivera Senior Center, 9200 Mines Ave, unless otherwise noted. 

Available city excursions are available for registration with limited capacity for each excursion. Online registration will be accepted at picoriveraca.myrec.com. A MyRec account is required for all online Recreation transactions.  

In-person registrations can be taken at the Senior Center and park sites. At this time, the Parks and Recreation Office will remain closed for in-person registrations to the public.

Adaptive Recreation

Adaptive dance events are only for participants with physical/intellectual disabilities and participants must be supervised by a parent, guardian or a caretaker. Group homes are encouraged to participate. An attendant or program aide must remain to assist as needed.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, all Adaptive Recreation Events have been postponed until further notice.

The Aquatics Division operates and maintains the Olympic-size pool at Smith Park that measures 50 meters by 25 yards. The pool operates from June – August to offer swim lessons, lap and recreational swimming, aqua aerobics, diving instruction, water polo, poolside special events, and a Junior Lifeguard program. The Aquatics Division also hosts a number of end-of-the-year swim parties for schools and community groups.
